We know that contractors are at particular risk of injury throughout this quarter and Managers and Supervisors have, therefore, been asked to focus their VFL discussions with contractors throughout the period.

In addition, to reinforce the importance of good health, the Executive Committee have asked that Line Managers ensure they include health alongside their safety discussions on a regular basis, but especially during all VFL engagements with both employees and contractors.  To support this, a pocket card has been developed which includes a number of typical questions that can help facilitate good health discussions. The intention is to stimulate discussions on health and help raise awareness about the importance of the subject for individuals and their family. This is particularly relevant when considering three contractors have sadly died as a result of heart attacks while working for us this year.
