Contractors have suffered 60% of our lost time injuries in the last 5 years. We all have a responsibility to look out for them and Step In if we see anything we believe may be unsafe.

Jesus Gonzalez commented: “We must continue working very hard to keep our contractors safe. It is very important that we treat them with the same safety standards that we use with our own employees and that we always STEP IN when we see an unsafe behaviour. Contractors safety is a hot spot not only in CEMEX but across the whole industry. Contractors companies should have the proper accreditation (i.e. PICS, FORS) to work in our sites and individual contractors should also probe competence (i.e. passports) before entering in any CEMEX site.”
