Sadly, an LTI involving a contract truckmixer driver has been reported over the the last week in UK Materials South.  The driver tripped over plastic banding from a pallet on a customer’s site as he stepped down from the ladder on his truck.  He fell on to some stored steel reinforcing bars, suffering bruising to his ribs and knee.

The incident is under investigation and the learning points will be shared via a Safety Alert, however, in the meantime, it reminds us all of the need to take care on ladders, steps, stairways, etc. always maintaining three points of contact, and to ensure we consider our MYSPACE assessments to identify what in a work area could result in an incident.
