The team at Northfleet Wharf on the Thames has recently completed a major safety improvement to allow access to the Ship to Shore hoist on the Luffing conveyor so that it can be inspected under LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998).
This work involved the installation of a temporary underslung scaffolding platform to allow the permanent underslung access platform to be installed.
The team worked well together to ensure each part of the installation was completed safely. This involved safety harnesses being worn at all times, a man rescue recovery tripod and restricted manned controlled access to the area.
All of the work was carried out ‘Working at Height’ while over the Thames with a rescue boat on standby and was completed safely. Throughout the project there was excellent communication between all parties – Engineering/Operations/Marine and The Port of London Authority.
The Project was completed on time and within budget, and with no effect on sales – all due to a fantastic ‘One Cemex’ cross team working together.
Congratulations and well done to everyone in the completion of this project.
