Last week Process & IT confirmed that CEMEX enrolled i-Phone users can install the latest software update, iOS 11.2.2. A “Do Not Disturb While Driving” feature has been included in this update which senses when you are driving and ensures the i-Phone stays silent and the screen stays dark.
If someone sends you a message they receive an automatic reply letting them know that you’re driving. If the message is important, the sender can type the word “urgent” to make sure that you receive a notification so you can pull over in a safe place to read their important message. Phone calls are delivered using the same conditions as standard “Do Not Disturb”.

Considering that drivers are at 4x greater risk of a collision when talking on a mobile phone, or 23x when texting or sending/receiving messages, it makes sense to encourage the use of new phone features amongst colleagues, family members and friends. We can all contribute to road safety by following the Driving Essentials and, in particular, the company policy on the Use of Mobile Phones.
