Next week is the national Road Safety Week (16th – 22nd November 2020), and the theme this year is No Need for Speed.
This is an opportunity for us all to reflect on our driving style and our speed – whether we drive as part of our job role, for our commute or simply for a trip to the supermarket!
Someone is injured on a UK road every four minutes, and speed contributes to one in five fatal crashes in the UK. Each year over 3,000 people are killed or seriously injured in accidents where ‘exceeding the speed limit’ or ‘travelling too fast for the conditions’ was recorded as a contributory factor by the police.
The impact driving too fast can have cannot be understated – a crash can be life-changing for those involved and their family and friends.
We have a poster for display in your sites, with a presentation that can be used for road safety sessions with your teams. They can be downloaded from here
Please do share pictures and details of any meetings you have with colleagues on this vital subject – we would love to see them.
Next week, we will also be running a No Need for Speed competition – with prizes for the winners. Watch out for more information.
Thank you for your support of this important campaign – UK Road Safety Group.
