Safety Alert Video

A UK Video Safety Alert was released last week and describes an incident where the driver of a tipper vehicle drove through a site with his body raised, before colliding with an overhead structure causing £130,000 of damage.

There are a number of learning points that can be taken from the incident:

  • Never drive with tipper bodies raised; always lower the body after discharging the load
  • Seat belts should be worn at all times while driving, both on our sites and the public highway
  • Drivers should always be alert to warning alarms
  • Sites should ensure power lines and other vulnerable overhead structures are protected with goal post structures, maximum height clearance being marked

Please review the video with Teams as appropriate to help avoid a recurrence of this type of incident.
