Safety Alerts

So far this year in the UK we have recorded two Lost Time Injuries (LTIs), both involving contract drivers. The drivers suffered serious injuries that will keep them off work for some time.  In one instance the driver lost part of the middle finger on his left hand when it was trapped in an automated tailgate clamp. In the other incident, a truckmixer driver fractured his wrist when he misjudged the step down from the ladder at the rear of his vehicle and he fell to the ground.

You can access the two Alerts outlining both incidents in the download section of the UK News website:  Global Alert - Driver falls from access ladder (876 downloads)   Global Alert - Driver severs finger (881 downloads)

Please discuss the Alerts with your teams, in particular with drivers and contractors.  In addition to the incident specific learning points, there are clear reminders for us all to ensure we “keep out of the line of fire” and ensure we remain aware of the potential for slips, trips and falls, and always “Get a Grip” even where site conditions and other controls are to a high standard.

Please also display the Alerts on your relevant noticeboards.
