For the second week running we have had a contractor TRI.   These incidents could have been much more serious.  This week a Scaffolder’s foot was run over by a forklift and he suffered a fractured bone.  Remember – being “struck by a moving vehicle” is one of the three most common causes of fatalities across UK industry and this incident reminds us of the importance of effective traffic management on our sites, including pedestrian segregation wherever possible and maintaining exclusion zones around moving vehicles.  It is vital that we all remain vigilant and ‘Step In’ where we see something we think may be unsafe; in doing so we may prevent an injury to a colleague.
