Basingstoke Refurb

We have recently completed some major upgrades at Basingstoke Readymix Plant in the South Coast area.
Kevin Dodsworth, Regional Fleet and Maintenance Manager, fills us in on the details. “Basingstoke was originally built in 1968. I added a new Pan mixer and Auxillary silo structure in 2000 to accommodate the growing screed / collect market and provide wet batching for higher quality concrete.

Following a structural inspection in 2018,we planned for a 3 week shutdown in February 2019 to address the numerous plant structural issues and upgrade the plant. During these works, the condition of the Stand alone 100T stone bin was discovered to be badly corroded and in need of replacement. This bin was redesigned and replaced within a 2 week period as well as significant works to the feed conveyor from the bin.

To complete the project, the plant was repainted and Cemex signs installed at high level. We are now highly visible next to the railway line.”
