Another big ‘Thank You’ goes out to all of our teams for continuing to develop and implement their ideas that will help make CEMEX a safer place to work, with better quality and greater efficiency/effectiveness.
The ideas for this month’s competition covered the following:
- Angerstein Wharf – Saved on flocculant equipment hire and expensive liquid polymer IBC’s by refurbing and reusing equipment from an old silt press which allowed them to switch to a powered flocculant.
- Marine team – Using Visual Management techniques to quickly identify which tools have low, medium, or high vibration and their associated permitted duration for operations.
- Midlands Readymix – Eliminate the need for mould oil in 25 litre containers to be carried up a flight of stairs and reduce the risks associated with manual handing and 3 point of contact problems.
- Willington quarry – Developed a gravity system where the excess water runs into an existing ditch. They were then able to ‘off hire’ the 8” submersible pump and save on energy costs.
- Dove Holes quarry – Fabricated a steel gutter to catch slurry and allow it to flow into a discharge grid. This reduces STF in the area, improves staff morale and saves on non-value adding cleaning time.
Our congratulations goes out to Angerstein Wharf who took the top award for this month!
