Last week, the first Operational Excellence Academy was held at Cemex Head Office in Coventry.

The Green Belt Problem Solving workshop involved employees from both Aggregates and Readymix. The group, who have already completed their ‘Yellow Belt’ foundation training, have now been trained at ‘Green Belt’ level. Their two day training showed them how to solve deep-routed problems using a problem solving methodology known as ‘DMAIC’. This stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control and are the five key stages that every successful problem solving project needs.

The attendees will now be working on a variety of projects on site involving conveyor spillages, metal detection issues, Readymix mixer downtime and contaminated materials.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the training workshop and thanks to Mark Beagrie, Matt Baines and Lorena Pintoiu from the Operational Excellence team, who created and facilitated the training package.
