Durham colleagues support local cricket club
Colleagues from Durham, Northeast and Yorkshire Readymix teams recently stepped up to support Ushaw Moor Cricket Club, helping to create new batting cages that will benefit players and the wider community for years to come.
As part of the project, Cemex donated 9m³ of Concrete along with a team of volunteers to help lay the base alongside local community members. The new facility will provide improved training opportunities for players of all ages and help the club continue to thrive.
The Cemex team was represented by Tony Coleman, John Parker, Garry Webster and Arthur Grimwood, who joined forces with local volunteers to get the project underway. Their hands-on support demonstrated the power of teamwork and Cemex’s ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in the communities where we operate.

Raynes quarry team support local school
Colleagues from Raynes quarry recently rolled up their sleeves as part of their Lend a Hand volunteering programme to help refresh the local village hall in Llysfaen.
The team, which included Dan Wynn, Rhys Evans, Mattie Kendrick, Morgan Robert and Sam Elliman, spent the day painting the hall, which is used by both the pupils of Ysgol Swn y Don and the wider local community. Located directly next to the quarry, the hall plays an important role in village life, hosting school activities as well as a variety of community events and gatherings.
By giving the building a fresh coat of paint, the Raynes team helped create a brighter, more welcoming space for everyone who uses it. The project is another great example of how our colleagues are making a positive difference in the communities where we operate. A big thank you to everyone involved for giving their time and effort to support a valued local facility.
