Thanks For Your Effort Nominees

Well done to all those who were nominated in October.  They will shortly be receiving a limited-edition CEMEX ‘Your Awesome’ mug to use for their tea break and remind themselves we think they are great.

Tim Holmes, IHC Chesterfield.  Tim is a true professional, loyal, exceptional work ethic and very helpful. He always engages with his fellow IHCs and company staff. But the biggest compliant we can pay Tim is the amazing feedback we get on a regular basis from our customers requesting his services which makes our job easier as repeat business is easier than new business.

Steve Deasley, Area Sales Executive, Readymix South Coast.  Throughout 2019 Steve has been the lynchpin of the South Coast Commercial team. He has been covering many additional duties due to the Commercial Manager being on maternity leave and has been using all his 35+ years experience to help train and pull together our new Sales team (five of which have been selling Concrete for a year or less). Steve has overseen order bank, market share and forecasts on top of looking after his own Readymix patch.  We have lost count of how many of Steve’s peers and colleagues from other departments have described him as a ‘star’ or ‘always going the extra mile’ this year. Steve has also attended numerous meetings across the South Coast and further afield to support his newer colleagues face-to-face with our customers.

Robert Riddell, Peter Horsburgh, Anthony Wright and Keith Buchan, Plant Operators at Leigh Cement Terminal.  Whilst in the middle of unloading a Cement vessel the Cement terminal suffered a breakdown when a foreign object became wedged in the internal vertical screw which feeds the silo. As they were in the middle of unloading the ship the access to the screw was restricted by a large amount of Cement which had to be shifted manually. The team on site at the time: Robert, Site Manager, and Anthony, Operator, called in the nightshift ahead of their start time and the four of them begun the task of clearing a route to the screw. With the help of the Asphalt plant located on the docks they were able to work into the night to ensure a safe access to the screw and then proceeded to remove the obstruction and ensure the depot was back up and running for the next day, preventing a very serious supply issue for the Readymix plants and customers in Scotland.

Ian Phillips, Aggregates Area Technical Manager – Northern.  Since the company changes and losing their Technical Manager in the Midlands, although not his area Ian has provided technical support for the Sales office at Rugby for the Midlands area and East. In Aggregates the customer requires an instant response. He is very knowledgeable and explains things well so that they are confident in the information they pass on to their customer. He also speaks to the customer directly if needed.
