Seven team members from the UK Business Performance Team took part in a Beach Clean lend-a-hand on 18th September at Formby Beach on Merseyside.
The day was warm and sunny, and the event was organised by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS). This is CEMEX’s third year of taking part. They spent the day picking up litter as part of the continued efforts to remove plastic waste (and other litter) from the beach.
Not only is the waste/litter unsightly it also poses a significant danger to marine wildlife who accidently eat or become entangled in plastic and marine waste. During the day a staggering 352kg of litter was collected with so much of it being plastic bottle tops, straws and crisp/sweet packets. They are delighted to be doing their bit to help the MCS and look after our wonderful sea and beaches.
This is an extremely worthwhile cause which really benefits our community.
