As reported in the media, there was a fatal incident at Tarmac’s Mountsorrel Quarry last week.  We believe the deceased died while working on a crusher; he was only 24 years old and worked for his father’s contracting business.

The MPA (Minerals Product Association) have reported that this is the sixth death across the industry this year.  This is a stark reminder of the dangers we can face in our workplaces every day, and the need to always STOP, THINK and CHECK that we have assessed the potential hazards and implemented the required control measures before starting any new task.  Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family, friends and work colleagues at such a tragic time.
