Update To UK Drugs And Alcohol Policy

The UK Drugs and Alcohol Policy has been updated to include an equivalent measure for alcohol levels and better reflect the way test results are reported.

The change is as follows: “A positive alcohol test result will be recorded if alcohol is detected in the donor’s breath sample at a concentration equal to or above 22 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath (equivalent to 0.46 grams of alcohol per 1 litre of blood (‰ [w/v]), in two consecutive breath tests.”

There is no change to the level of alcohol that determines a positive result, this is purely an administrative change for the Policy to align with the way results are reported by the testing laboratory.
